Our Worship

We are a people at River Life Fellowship who love to worship the Lord Jesus Christ. We embrace what the Scripture teaches about singing (Psalm 47:6- ) clapping (Psalm 47:1) and even dancing (Psalm 149:3). We believe that these types of expressions are some of the symptoms of a thankful heart in response to what the Lord has done for the world and for the Body and for each of us as members of that body.

As St. Paul directed we are “zealous for spiritual gifts” and it is for “the edification of the church that we seek to excel.” That being said all that we do we measure against the fundamental church doctrine found in 1 Corinthians 13 which (in paraphrase) says that anything you do which is not rooted and grounded in the Love of Christ is worthless. Our prayer is to continually be filled with the Love of Christ so that our worship, no matter how “dynamic”, will not become a “sounding brass or a clanging cymbal”.

We believe that worship in Spirit and Truth is a moving target and requires ears that can hear and a heart that is willing to be humble. We value the “mighty roar” of his people and we likewise know that He is also found in the stillness of quiet. We are compelled to sing songs that tell the story of our tribe because it testifies directly to what the Lord has done within our local body. We also embrace songs that are widely known which carry an anointing that has blessed a larger segment of the Body.

Our ultimate aim is to magnify the name of Jesus above every other name for no other reason than because He is worthy.
