RiverLife Fellowship, a testament to perseverance, was founded in 1985 by Eldon and Eldoris Loberger. It began as a modest weekly Bible study in their home, blossoming into Calvary Community Church, affiliated with the Evangelical Free Denomination. Despite the challenges of low attendance, the unwavering commitment of foundational members kept the church's flame burning bright from 1985 through 1993.
In 1993, the church faced a significant challenge when it lost its third pastor, and attendance dropped to just five families. Byron Wicker was asked to step in as an interim pastor at this critical juncture. By 1994, he officially became the pastor of Calvary Community Church, a role he and his wife, Becky, continue to hold today. The church transitioned from the Evangelical Free Denomination to a nondenominational Pentecostal/Charismatic church.
In 1996, the church moved from its leased building on Hwy. 21 to an older church building on Parker Ave. in Mooresville. This move marked a period of growth and revival, particularly among the youth. By 1998, the church purchased land on Highway 21 in Mooresville, and a new building was completed in 2000. Attendance grew to around 200 people.
In 2004, inspired by the Holy Spirit, the church's name was changed to RiverLife Fellowship, based on Psalm 46:4. In 2006, a move of God at a women's retreat sparked revival and awakening throughout the church. Over the past 30 years, the church has experienced significant growth and fruitfulness.
God has accomplished much through RiverLife Fellowship, including establishing a Christian K-12 school, a School of Ministry, missions to various nations, and robust youth and children's ministries. Two other churches have also been planted in Chapel Hill and Wilmington, NC.
Today, RiverLife Fellowship is a vibrant and active body of Christ, passionately loving Jesus and His presence. The church has endured many challenges, but just as in the beginning, God has used many people to establish and grow RiverLife. To Him be the glory!
We value, above all else, the Presence of God, family and missions.
